School Clothing Program

School Year 2008-2009

  1. Purpose

 

The purpose of the school clothing program is to provide supplemental funds in the amount of $70.00 for Head Start - 5th and $120.00 for 6th - 12th grades for the 2008 school year. Students who are 18 years of age and eligible to receive per capita payment in August of each year will not be eligible for school clothing allowance.

 

  1. Definitions

 

School Clothing Program:  CADOE designed in providing financial assistance for Cheyenne and Arapaho tribal enrolled school aged children in grades Head Start through 12th grade.  The funds are designated for the specific purpose of purchasing school clothing, as approved by CADOE.

 

Guidelines: The school clothing program will abide by the following guidelines, no exceptions.

 

Clothing Allowance

$70.00 per child Head Start – 5th and $120.00 per child 6th – 12th.  Enrolled children of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes will be eligible to receive the clothing funds.  Tribal members who turn age 18 on or before August 15, 2008 will not be eligible.

School Enrollment

Application must be verified by school official.

Clothing

Appropriate clothing that meets each school district’s dress code.

Receipts

Parents must return all original receipts; they are to be post marked by March 02, 2008.   Parents or legal guardians who do not turn in receipts totaling the amount awarded will not be eligible for the next academic school year.  Please list child’s name on all receipts.

Tribal Enrollment

Child is enrolled in Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. The Tribal Enrollment Office will provide verification of enrolled membership.

  1. Policy

 

It is the policy of CADOE to provide supplemental services to all children, youth, young adults, and adults to support individual endeavors to complete their educational goals.  Unauthorized use of these funds will result in suspension for the next academic school year.

  1. Description of Approved Education Department School Clothes

 

All funds must be used to purchase school clothing, shoes, socks, underwear, or coats. Purchased clothes must meet individual school dress codes.      

 

  1. General Priority Guideline

5.1 An application must be completed for each child applying for assistance.

5.2 The award amount is $70.00 for Head Start – 5th grade and $120.00 for 6th – 12th  Tribal members who turn age 18 on or before August 15, 2008 will not be eligible. grade.

5.3  The School Clothing Program Coordinator will be the primary contact person and work with the Executive Director of Education to ensure fair and accurate administration of program funds.

5.4  Grievances will be handled by the school clothing coordinator and Executive Director of Education.  Decision is final.

5.5  Parents or legal guardians who do not turn in receipts totaling the amount awarded will not be eligible for the next academic year.

5.6  Parent acknowledges receiving a check in the amount allocated by the School Clothing Program to purchase school clothing for the above student.  Parent understands that if the check is lost and uncashed, I will have to pay a bank fee of $12.00, which will be deducted from the re-issued check.  If check is not cashed by Dec. 31, 2008, the School Clothing Program will issue a stop payment of the check and no check will be re-issued.  Parents must return all original receipts; they are to be post marked by March, 02, 2008.  Please list child’s name on all receipts.

5.7  Funds will be disbursed once full application is processed.

6.1  Upon approval by CADOE, applications will be available on the CADOE  website link titled “School Clothing Program.”

6.2  Applications may be turned into the School Clothing Coordinator.

6.3   Applications will be processed on a first-come-first-served basis.

6.4  Applications will be accepted until the DEADLINE of November 26, 2008. All applications must be post marked by November 26, 2008.  NO EXCEPTIONS.
