POSITION:    Registered Nurse

                        Geary Community Nursing Home

 

LOCATION:  Economic Development, Concho, Oklahoma

Description Summary:  Must have a thorough working knowledge of nursing policies and procedures, administration of medication, possible side effects and treatment as prescribed.  Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws relating to resident care; comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices; physical, psychological, social,, and medical needs of residents; organizational structure and duties of employees under supervision of charge nurse. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Provide nursing care in accordance with nursing service policies, procedures and physician orders.  Supervise nurse aides and orderlies on their shift.  Monitor nursing care to assure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect. 

 

·        Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with Administrator, DON, other nursing staff, physicians, therapists, families and staff in other departments.  Assume responsibility for residents assigned to your care, including regular bed checks. 

 

·        Make daily rounds of the nursing department to ensure that all nursing staff is performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. 

 

·        Chart nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident as well as the resident’s response to the care.  Sign and date all entries made in residents chart.

 

·        Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by the physician, and in accordance with our policies and procedures.

 

·        Notify attending physician and family when there is a change in the resident’s condition.

 

·        Monitor seriously ill residents, as necessary.

 

·        Maintain confidentiality concerning all medical care and records of residents.

 

·        Administers parenteral, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• Must be a graduate of a state approved school of nursing and currently licenses as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma.  Must pass OSBI background check and pre-employment drug screening.

SALARY:  Commensurate with Education and work experience.
