POSITION: Licensed Practical Nurse/Charge Nurse

Description Summary: Must have a knowledge of nursing policies and procedures, administration of medication, possible side effects, and treatment as prescribed, federal, state, and local laws/regulations relating to resident care; comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices; physical, psychological, social, and medical needs of residents; organizational structure and duties of employees under the supervision of the charge nurse.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing service policies and procedures and physician’s orders.
- Supervises the nurse aides and orderlies on their shift.
- Monitor nursing care to assure that all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity and respect. Must possess leadership and supervisory ability and the willingness to work harmoniously with Administrator, DON, other nursing staff, physicians, therapists, families and staff in other departments.
- Assume responsibility for residents assigned to your care, including regular bed checks to insure that no resident is left unattended or permitted to wonder from the premises, and insure that resident call lights are answered promptly.
- Makes daily rounds of the nursing department to ensure that all nursing staff is performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Charts nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided to the resident as well as the resident’s response to the care. Sign and date all entries made in resident’s chart. Report all discrepancies noted concerning physician’s orders, diet change, charting error, etc., to DON. Give/receive the nursing report with incoming, outgoing nurse upon reporting in and ending shift.
- Arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered by the physician and in accordance with our policies and procedures. Record new changed diet orders, forward information to the dietary department on communication slip.
- Receive telephone orders from physicians and record on the physicians order form. Make rounds with the physician as necessary. Monitor seriously ill residents, as necessary.
- Maintains confidentiality concerning all medical care and records of residents.
- Assists with orientation of nursing personnel.
- Administers parenteral, intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Hold a current unencumbered license in Oklahoma as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Registered with the State Board of Registration in Oklahoma. Must be a graduate of a state approved school of practical or professional nursing. Must be able to pass OSBI background check and pre-employment drug screening.
SALARY: Commensurate with Education and work experience.
