POSITION: Dietary Aide

Description Summary: Set up tables and trays and remove trays from dining room; clean dietary work area; stock and store food, dishes and supplies. Helps keep dishes and utensils clean and ready for use. Provide assistance to cooks in the preparation of meal service if needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist cook as needed in preparing food, setting up and covering desserts.
· Read and interpret tray cards so that proper beverages and desserts are put on each tray. Set up trays and deliver meals to residents in the dining rooms. Record percentages of meal consumed. Clear trays and tables. Scrape, rack and place soiled dishes in dish machine. Sort, stack, and store clean dishes.
· Maintain cleanliness of dish machine and dietary area. Know and maintain dish machine temperature for wash and rinse cycles. Record temperatures of dish machine. Check with chlorine test paper to test chlorine in dish machine. Clean and maintain kitchen and food preparation equipment. Stock and store food items.
· Follow oral and written directions. Attend in-service training programs for food service employees and facility when scheduled. Observe infection control procedures related to the dietary department.
· Follow Resident’s Rights Policies at all times. Follow facility Safety Program when working with equipment and chemicals. Know how to read MSDS sheets and know where MSDS book is located. Understand policy on resident abuse and report any possible abuse to the Charge Nurse or Administrator. Maintain the confidentiality of resident care information. File complaints with supervisor. Participates in fire and evacuation drills on shift.
· Willing to help with all work wherever or whatever you are asked to do by your supervisor or the cook in charge. Come to work on time as scheduled and accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Ability to read and write English and to train and participate in staff development. Basic knowledge is preferred but employee may be trained on the job. Must be able to pass OSBI background check and pre-employment drug screening.
SALARY: Commensurate with Education and work experience.
